- 1/3 c. all purpose flour
- 1/2 c. flat beer
- 1/3 c. cornstarch
- 1 egg
- 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 2 tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1/8 tsp. garlic powder
Chunky Beef Barley Soup

A very hearty soup
- 3 tbsp butter, divided
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 medium onion
- ½ lb mushrooms, sliced
- ½ cup celery
- 1 ½ lbs stewing beef, cut into ¼ inch cubes
- flour
- 1 cup carrots, diced
- ½ cup pearl barley
- 2 whole tomatoes, chopped
- 5 ½ cups beef broth
- ½ tsp. cumin
- 2 tsp salt
- ½ tsp. coarse ground black pepper
Fruit Pizza

Prepare a batch of sugar cookie dough and pat onto an ungreased 14-inch pizza pan
- Glaze:
- 1 batch sugar cookie dough
- 1 package (8 ounces) of cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup icing sugar
- 8 ounces of Cool Whip
- selection of fruit - bananas, strawberries, kiwi, pineapple, mandarin oranges, star fruit
- ¼ cup sugar
- ¼ cup orange juice
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 ½ tbsp cornstarch
- pinch of salt
Blueberry Snack Cake

In a mixing bowl, combine flour and sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 cup milk
- 2 eggs, separated
- 2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries (do not thaw)
Truffles

Boil cream until reduced to half
- 1/4 cup whipping cream
- 6 oz finely chopped chocolate
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter

Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Grease and flour an 8" square cake pan
- Topping:
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- ½ cup soft butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 ¾ cup sifted cake flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- ...............................................
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ½ cup chopped walnuts
Shabu shabu

Arrange ingredients attractively on a serving platter
- 12 shiitake mushrooms (other mushrooms may be substituted), soaked
- 1 small head of chinese cabbage (sui choy), sliced
- 1 spinach log, sliced into 1-inch pieces
- 6 to 8 oz. dried udon noodles, cooked and rinsed in cold water
- 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 lb thinly sliced beef
- 1 large onion, cut in thin wedges
- 1 bunch green onions, cut diagonally into 2 inch pieces
- 1 large carrot, thinly sliced
- 1 block tofu, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 6 cups sea-vegetable and fish stock
- Sesame sauce or Peanut Miso sauce
- Lemon-Soy dipping sauce

Combine and mix dry ingredients
- 3/4 c. all purpose flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. cornstarch
- 1 c. water
- 2 tsp. baking powder
Asian Slaw

In a small saucepan add 2 tablespoons olive oil, ginger and garlic, lightly saute until lightly brown
- 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
- 3 tablespoons minced ginger
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 5 tablespoons soy sauce
- 4 tablespoons mirin, or white wine
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
- 1 cup thinly sliced napa cabbage
- 1/2 cup thinly sliced green cabbage
- 1 cup julienned carrots
- 1/2 cup thinly sliced red onion
- 1/2 cup thinly sliced red bell pepper
- 1/2 cup thinly sliced bok choy
- 1/2 cup bean sprouts
- 1/2 cup julienned snap peas
- 1/2 cup julienned green onions
- 15 wonton skins, fried
- Peanuts, for garnish
