To help interest my kids in cooking, I started with this recipe from my childhood
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
- ¾ cup butter, softened
- 1 egg
- 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2)
- 1 ¾ cups quick-cooking oats
- 1 cup (6 oz) semisweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup chopped walnuts
