- 2 1/2 cups whole milk
- 2 tablespoons minced shallots

- 2 pounds Yukon gold potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/8-inch-thick slices
- 1/2 cup (2 ounces) shredded Gruyère cheese
- 1/4 cup (1 ounce) grated fresh Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese

- 1/4 cup bread crumbs

Barbecue Style Chicken

1. In a 3-1/2- to 4-quart slow cooker place the potatoes, sweet pepper, and onion
- 2 medium unpeeled potatoes, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
- 1 large green sweet pepper, cut into strips
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 tablespoon quick-cooking tapioca
- 2 pounds chicken thighs or drumsticks, skinned and fat removed
- 1 8-ounce can tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon salt

- 6 cups coarsely chopped wild or cultivated mushrooms (about 1 pound)
- 3/4 cup half-and-half
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 8 ounces uncooked penne (tube-shaped pasta)
Hot Crab Dip
