Crust 1. For crust, beat butter and brown sugar until smooth

Adjust oven rack to middle position and heat oven to 350 degrees

- 2 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour (12 1/2 ounces)
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar (about 4 3/4 ounces)
- 1/2 teaspoon table salt
- 16 tablespoons unsalted butter (2 sticks) plus 2 tablespoons, cut into 1/2-inch pieces and softened to cool room temperature
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar (1 3/4 ounces), light or dark
- 1/2 cup rolled oats (1 1/2 ounces), old-fashioned
- 1/2 cup pecans (2 ounces), chopped fine
