Pound Cake - Joy of Cooking 75th Anniversary

Real Pound cake
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
- Have all ingredients at room temperature before starting, about 70 degrees.
- 2 cups butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 9 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon organic lemon extract
- 4 cups cake flour
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Crescent Layer Bars

Heat oven to 375°F (350°F for dark pans)
- 1 can (8 oz) Pillsbury® refrigerated crescent dinner rolls or 1 can (8 oz) Pillsbury® Crescent Recipe Creations® refrigerated seamless dough sheet
- 1 cup white vanilla baking chips
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup slivered almonds
- 1 cup cashew halves and pieces
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
Falafel with Avocado Spread Recipe

Preparation To prepare patties, place pinto beans in a medium bowl; partially mash with a fork
- Patties:
- 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
- 1/2 cup (2 ounces) shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1/4 cup finely crushed baked tortilla chips (about 3/4 ounce)
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped green onions
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped cilantro
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 large egg white
- 1 1/2 teaspoons canola oil
- Spread:
- 1/4 cup mashed peeled avocado
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped tomato
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped red onion
- 2 tablespoons fat-free sour cream
- 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- Remaining ingredients:
- 2 (6-inch) pitas, each cut in half crosswise
- 4 thin red onion slices, separated into rings
- Microgreens
Brown Butter Salted Caramel Snickerdoodles

In a medium sized bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, cream of tarter, cinnamon, and set aside
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose Gold Medal flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, sliced
- 1 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon plain Greek yogurt
- 1 cup caramel squares, cut into 1/4's
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- Coarse Sea salt for sprinkling on completed cookies
Halloween party mix

Preheat oven 250. grease large pan
- 9 cups oven toasted corn cereal
- 4 cups popped popcorn
- 1 1/2 cups dry roasted peanuts
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter/margarine
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1 t vanilla extract
- 1/2 t baking soda
- 1 3/4 cup nestle toll house halloween shapes and morsels
- 1 pkg milk chocolate covered pretzels (7.5 oz)

- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Eat Your Greens Detox Soup

In a large saucepan, heat the oil over medium heat
- 1 1/2 teaspoons coconut oil or olive oil
- 1 sweet onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 cups sliced cremini or white button mushrooms (about 8 ounces)
- 1 cup chopped carrots
- 2 cups chopped broccoli florets
- Fine-grain sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 1/2 to 3 teaspoons grated peeled fresh ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 5 cups vegetable broth
- 2 large nori seaweed sheets, cut into 1-inch (2.5-cm) strips (optional)
- 2 cups (500 mL) torn kale leaves
- Fresh lemon juice, for serving (optional)

- 1 butternut squash (large enough to yield 1 lb. once peeled & sliced)
- 1/8 tsp. coarse salt, or more to taste

- 5 cup(up to 6) cauliflower, florets about 1 1/2 inches in diameter (from 1 medium cauliflower)
- 1 ⁄4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 tbsp garlic, sliced
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 ⁄2 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp parmesan cheese, grated
