  • 2 cup finely, chopped peeled apple
  • 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoon packed brown sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon water
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 chopped almonds, toasted
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • Combine above ingredients and cook, covered, over medium heat 5 minutes. Remove cover and cook additional 10 minutes until thick. Stir in almonds and vanilla. Cool before using in bread.
