Preparation

Step 1

Liberally apply margarine to a large (approx 9” x 13”) deep casserole dish.
In a plastic bag, crush a sleeve or a sleeve and a half of salted crackers using a rolling pin.
Grate a large package of Old Cheddar Cheese.

Cook and drain 2/3 of a package of Elbow Macaroni as per package directions. Rinse the pot out.

In the pot, make a white sauce using the ratio of 4 heaping cereal spoons of margarine, 4 heaping cereal spoons of flour and 4 cups of milk. You can increase or decrease the amounts depending on how creamy you like it but always keep it constant….3, 3, 3 or 5, 5 5. I generally use 4 or 5 of everything. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sauce starts to thicken. Remove from heat.

Add the cooked macaroni to the white sauce and mix well. Put half the macaroni mixture in the casserole dish. Cover with a good layer of grated cheddar. Pour the remaining macaroni mixture over the cheddar. Cover with another good layer of grated cheddar. Cover with the crushed crackers.

Bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes until it’s heated through. Enjoy.
