- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 cup flour
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1 (303) can red sour cherries, water packed
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup milk

Step 1
Cream together 1/2 cup sugar and butter. Blend in flour, baking powder, and salt. Add milk and mix well. Spread batter in greased square pan (8 x 8 or 9 x 9 inches). Distribute cherries evenly over batter. Pour cherry juice on top. Sprinkle cherries with remaining 1/2 cup sugar. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes.
