Ingredients
- 3-4 pounds apples
- 2 Tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 2-3 Tablespoons sweet ginger bits
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 cup apple cider, apple juice or water
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice

Preparation
Step 1
Peel and core the apples and cut into large chunks. Mix them immediately with lemon juice to prevent browning. Put apples in the slow cooker with the apple juice and cook on low for 3 hours. Add the ground spices, salt and vanilla for the final 30 minutes. Serve warm or cold. Freezes well.
