Ingredients

  • Icing:
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs , well beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons corn syrup

Step 1

1. Cake: Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Cream together shortening and 1 1/2 c sugar; beat in eggs and vanilla. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk. Turn into lower half of well-buttered lamb mold. Cover with top of mold. Bake at 350 degrees, 50 minutes.

2. Icing: Combine ingredients and place over boiling water and cook until mixture stands in peaks, 7 to 10 minutes. Remove from heat and continue to beat until right consistency to spread.
