Ingredients
- 2 cans of Yams ( 40 oz) Drained
- 1 cup water
- 6 Tablespoons Butter
- 1 Teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspsoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans ( optionial)
- 3 cups marshmallows

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350
In a large pan melt 2 tablespoons of butter (leave rest for the top of yams) put all ingredients but marshmallows and pecans , bring to a boil lower and simmer for about 10 min.
Drain the yams and arrange in a single layer in a buttered 13 by 9-inch baking dish. Put rest of butter on top of yams. Pour the syrup over the potatoes; making sure it covers the potatoes. bake for 35 minutes, spooning syrup over potatoes twice during that time.
Remove from the oven, and stir in pecans. Arrange the marshmallows evenly on top. Place back in the oven turning it up to 400 degrees F and cook until marshmallows puff up and turn brown, approximately 10 more minutes.
