  • 1 Large egg
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3/4 Cup water
  • 3/8 Cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 Tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 Cup sugar
  • 4 Apples peeled and cored

Pour the corn oil into a deep fryer or large, heavy-bottom pan and heat to 350 degrees.

Meanwhile, using an electric mixer, beat the egg and salt together until frothy, then quickly whisk in the water and flour. Do not overbeat the batter-it doesn't matter if it isn't completely smooth.

Mix the cinnamon and sugar together in a shallow dish and set aside.

Slice the apples into 1/4 inch thick rings. Spear with a fork, 1 slice at a time, and dip in the batter to coat. Add to the hot oil, in batches, and cook for 1 minute on each side, or until golden and puffed up. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Keep warm while you cook the remaining batches. Transfer to a large serving plate, sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar and serve.
