Plum Jam

I have a Santa Fee Plum tree in my back yard. There are so many plums on it - I have to make Plum Jam. I went to the internet and tried this one. It worked good and so I will make it again.

Ingredients

  • 5 Cups of Ripe Plums - cut in half and pit removed
  • Put the plums in a heavy pan - ( so it will not burn.
  • Add 1/2 cub of water. Cook over medium heat for 10 to 15
  • minutes, until soft. Stir every few minutes.
  • When the plums cook - get the jars ready. Put then with the lids in a pot of water and boil then for at least 10 minute.
  • When the plum mix it done and soft - put them into a blender and pulse, just to brake up the skins. Put it back in
  • the pan and heat to a boil again.

Step 1

Now add the pectin as directed on the package. Add 2 tbsp. of lemon juice.

Back to boiling and add slowly 5 Cups Sugar, stir as you add.

If you want- add 1 tsp. cinnamon now. Let it boil again. when
you can not stir it down. Time it for 1 minute.

There is all ways foam in the top, so just add 1/2 tsp, butter and let it melt while you take out the jars and lids.


Then fill the jars with Jam Mix and seal.
