Ingredients

  • 4 apples, upper half peeled and cored without cutting through the bottom
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons raisins
  • 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 4 scoops vanilla ice cream (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

Place apples in square glass or ceramic baking pan. Combine sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, raisins and nuts. Fill centers of apples with mixture. Dot with butter. Pour water into bakr. Cover with foil and place in cold oven. Set oven to 425F and bake 40 - 60 minutes, basting occationally until apples are tender. Serve warm with ice cream, if desired.
