Mom’s Macaroni & Cheese

  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 4 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup canned milk
  • 2 cups milk
  • 16 oz. extra-sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 3/4 cups macaroni.

Step 1

Melt butter in microwave in a covered microwave-safe bowl. Add flour, mix well. Combine canned milk and milk. Mix a little of the milk mixture with flour mixture, then add the rest of the milk mixture. Cook in microwave for 12 minutes, stirring every 2, or until thickened. Grate cheese and divide leaving about 1 cup to top macaroni. Add cheese to milk and flour mixture and stir until cheese melts.

Cook macaroni according to package instructions; drain. Add to cheese sauce. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top and cover bowl. Microwave on high for 6 ½ minutes.
