Ingredients

    cup sugar

  • 1/2

    cup firmly packed brown sugar

  • 1/2

    cup coconut

  • 1

    cup chopped pecans

  • 2 1/4

    cups flour

  • 1

    teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2

    teaspoon baking soda

  • dash of salt

  • 2

    sticks margarine

  • 1 1/2

    cups sugar

  • 2

    teaspoons vanilla

  • 2

    each eggs

  • 1

    cup sour cream

  • 2

    cups apples, peeled and chopped

  • 1

    tablespoon flour

  • Optional Icing

  • 1

    cup powdered sugar

  • warm water to make it drizzle

Directions

MIX together the first 4 ingredients. SIFT together the flour, baking powder, soda, and salt. CREAM margarine, 1 1/2 cup sugar, vanilla, eggs, and beat well. Stir in sour cream. Fold in the flour mixture and set aside. PEEL, core and dice apples. Mix with 1 1/4 cup of the nut mixture plus 1 tablespoon of flour. GREASE well a 13x9 pan. DISTRIBUTE 1/2 of cake batter over the bottom. Spread apple mixture over batter with spoon. Then drop by spoonfuls the remainder of the cake batter over apples and spread out with a spoon. SPRINKLE remaining nut mixture over batter. BAKE at 350 oven for 40-45 minutes. Cool on rack. IF desired, when cool make icing and drizzle over top.
