Ingredients

  • 1 cup sifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup Crisco shortening
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • 2 Tbps butter
  • 2-1/2 cups sliced apples
  • 1/4 cup sugar

Step 1

Sift flour with salt and baking soda. Add brown sugar, mix in oatmeal and cinnamon.

Cut in shortening until mixture is crumbly. Spread half of mixture in a greased 7 x 11 inch baking dish. Dot with butter, add apples and sprinkle with the sugar.

Cover with the remaining crumble mixture.

Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes.
