Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

For the crust, thaw puffed pasty to room temperature and place it on a cookie sheet. Cookie sheet can be lined with tin foil for easy clean up. Crimp the edges to create a border. Peel and core the apples. Chop the apples in thin wedges. Put them in a bowl with lemon juice drizzled over them. Set aside.

Finely chop the walnuts, then add the brown sugar to the nuts. Blend to mix well. Spread this mixture evenly over the pastry.

For richer flavor, on the stove reduce the apple cider to half its amount by letting it boil for about ten minutes. Add the sugar, cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg. Add the apple wedges to the reduction and let simmer for about ten minutes. Remove them from the heat while they are still firm and before they become mushy.

Arrange the apple wedges in rows on the tart. Bake at 350 degrees for about 35-45 minutes or until puff pastry is golden and apples are very soft.
