By jobustitch
From my mother in law: This is what I use. It is from a May 1968 Lee County Home Extension lesson
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 1/3 cup water
- 2 Tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp ginger
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1/3 cup white or red wine vinegar
Details
Servings 8
Preparation
Step 1
Marinate a 2 inch thick sirloin or choice round steak in the following sauce at least 2 hours or overnight:
In an 8 ounce measuring cup mix 1/3 cup soy sauce, 1/3 cup water, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 teaspoon ginger. Fill measuring cup with wine vinegar. Add 2 peeled and slashed cloves of garlic.
Pour marinade over steak, cover and refrigerate overnight or leave at romm temperature for not over 2 hours. (I put mine in a Zip lock bag and mix it around)
Drain and broil over moderate heat about 15 to 25 minutes for rare, 30 to 45 minutes for well done. To serve, slice very thinly. Serves 8. I have used it for steak, but mostly for Shish Kabobs.
