Crockpot Moroccan Applesauce Cake

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup dates or raisins, chopped
  • 3/4 cup walnuts, chopped

Preparation

Step 1

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time. Beat until smooth. Add vanilla. Combine applesauce and soda. Stir in. Mix flour, cinnamon and salt. Add to creamed mixture. Beat until smooth. Mix in chocolate chips, dates (or raisins) and walnuts. Turn into a greased and floured 2-quart pudding mold. Place in a crockery pan. Cover with 4 layers of paper towels. Place loosely on top of crockpot so that steam can escape. Cook on high for 3 to 3 1/2 hours, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
