Applesauce Layer Cake

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 4 cups self-rising flour
- 2 quarts applesauce

Step 1
Mix sugar and shortening. Add eggs to mixture. Add milk and vanilla to mixture, mix well. Add flour, one cup at a time, mix well after each addition. Roll out one heaping tablespoon of dough mixture onto lightly floured surface for each layer, make the size of a round cake pan. Put one layer into greased and floured round cake pan. Bake at 350° for approximately 15 minutes. Repeat for every layer. Let layers cool overnight. Place one layer onto cake dish, spread applesauce over layer (just enough to make layer moist). If desired, add sugar and cinnamon to applesauce. Repeat process for all layers and applesauce. Let cake sit overnight or at least 6 hours.
