Preparation
Step 1
Preheat 350 degrees - Cook 20 minutes per pound (for a stuffed turkey)
*** Line your roasting pan with foil paper for easier clean up ***
Completely wash the turkey inside and out. Pat dry with paper towel. Sprinkle salt inside the cavity of the turkey before adding the stuffing.
Place bird in a large roasting pan, make small slits in the skin and add pieces of butter. Salt and pepper the entire bird. Add as much chicken broth or water to cover approximately ½" to 1" of bottom of pan.
Cover and cook. After a few hours, start basting your turkey with juices at the bottom, cover and keep cooking until done. Baste about every 3/4 hour or so. For the last 15 - 30 minutes take off cover to brown the skin of the turkey.
Remove from oven. Let sit for about 10 - 15 minutes. Remove stuffing from the bird and then lay the turkey onto a cutting board.
