  • 3 tbs margarine or butter
  • 3 large spanish onions-sliced
  • 1 14 1/2 oz beef broth
  • 3 cups cold water
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 6 slices bread-toasted
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese

Step 1

melt margarine, add onions-cook about 15 minutes. add broth, water, bay leaf. stir and cover. simmer 15 minutes. remove bay leaf. preheat broiler. top bowl with toast slice-sprinkle with cheeses.

broil 5-10 minutes.
