Cranberry Upside Down Cake

Directions Butter and flour an 8-inch round cake pan; set aside
- 12 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature, plus more for pan
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour, plus more for pan
- 2 3/4 cups fresh or defrosted frozen cranberries
- 9 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons yellow cornmeal, preferably coarse
- 1/4 cup almond paste
- 3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar
- 3 large eggs, separated
- 1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon pure almond extract
- 1/2 cup milk
Khrishna's Old School Yogi Tea

Khrishna, our beloved yoga teacher, gave us this recipe in 70's
- Let this boil for twenty minutes with pot covered. Then add:
- For each cup of tea begin with 10 oz of water. Bring water to a rapid boil.
- Then add: * 3 whole cloves
- 4 * 4 whole green cardamon pods
- 4 * 4 whole black peppercorns
- 1/2 * 1/2 stick cinnamon
- 1 * 1 slice fresh ginger
- 1/4 * 1/4 teaspoon of any black
- tea
- 1/2 * 1/2 cup cold dairy milk
- per cup of liquid
- For 2 Quarts:
- 20 * 20 cardamon pods
- 20 * 20 peppercorns
- 15 * 15 cloves
- 3 * 3 cinnamon sticks
Espresso Chocolate Pecan Tart

- 1 (9-inch) unbaked or frozen deep dish pie crust
- 6 oz bittersweet chocolate, broken into chunks
- 3 eggs slightly beaten
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup Karo Light or Dark Corn Syrup
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 1/4 cups pecans
- 1/4 cup Sharffen Berger Cocoa Nibs *
- 1 tablespoon Trablit Coffee Extract*
- *Can be found at Surfas in Culver City
Spicy Shrimp and Brussels Sprout Stir-Fry

In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil over medium-high

- 1 1 1 pound brussels sprouts, trimmed and shredded
- Salt and pepper
- 1 1 1 cup bean sprouts
- 2 2 2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 1 1 1 small green chile, such as Thai, thinly sliced
- 3 3 3 scallions, white and green parts separated and thinly sliced
