1. Sift together flour, baking soda, and baking powder into a large bowl
- 6 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for work surface
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed dark-brown sugar
- 4 teaspoons ground ginger
- 4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon finely ground pepper
- 1 1/2 teaspoons coarse salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup unsulfured molasses
- Royal Icing
- Fine sanding sugar, for sprinkling
Strawberry "Bandanna" Tart

Combine strawberries and sugar, and let stand 1 hour
- 8 cups strawberries (about 3 pounds), hulled and sliced 1/4 inch thick
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup cornstarch
- All-purpose flour, for dusting

- 1 tablespoon water

- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

- 2 cups (about 12 ounces) semisweet and/or milk chocolate chips

Slow-Cooker Beef Bourguignon

1 In 7-quart Dutch oven or stockpot, heat oil over high heat
- 1 tablespoon vegetable or canola oil
- 2 1/2 lb beef chuck roast, cut into 1-inch cubes

- 1 lb large carrots, peeled and cut into 1-inch pieces
