Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F and place rack in the center of oven
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, cubed and chilled
- 1 to 1 1/4 cups buttermilk, plus more for brushing
- 2 teaspoons flaky salt, such as Maldon

- 8 slices bacon
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

Grilled Asian Chicken Drumsticks

- 1 lb loaf egg bread, crusts removed and cut into 1 1/4-inch cubes (about 13 cups)
- 1 cup bittersweet chocolate chips (about 6 oz.)

- 1 1/2 cups sugar
