Steak and Vegetable Pie-Deep Dish

A great new twist on pot roast dinner
- 1/2 of a 15 oz pkg rolled refrigerated pie crust (1 pie crust)
- 3/4 beef broth
- 1 teas dried marjoram, crushed
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teas salt
- 1/4 teas pepper
- 2 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 2/3 cup thinly sliced carrots
- 1/2 c chopped onion
- 2-17 oz pkgs refrigerated cooked beef roast au jus
- 1 c half and half
- 1/4 c flour
- 3/4 c frozen peas
Pork Kebabs with Thyme

A great citrus tasting kebab to grill
- 1 T finely grated orange zest
- 1/4 c fresh orange juice (from 1 orange)
- 5 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 2 T coarsely chopped fresh thyme plus sprigs for garnish
- 1 T Dijon mustard
- Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper
- 1/4 c extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 1/4 lb pork tender, cut into 11/2 inch cubes.
Eye of round roast with horseradish sauce

A red wine marinates this tasty roast and makes it very tender
- Marinade:
- 1 c dry red wine
- 1/2 c butter, melted
- 1-4 lb eye-of-round-roast
- 1 T salt
- 1 teas pepper
- Horseradish Cream:
- 1 8-oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 1/2 T prepared horseradish
- 2 teas Dijon mustard
- For horseradish sauce: Combine all ingredients, stirring until smooth. Cover and chill at least 2 hours.
Sweet Potato Bake

Sweet potato casserole with a nutty topping could almost be a dessert
- Topping:
- 3 c cold mashed sweet potatoes(prepared without milk or butter)
- 1 c sugar
- 1/2 c milk
- 1/4 c butter, softened
- 3 eggs
- 1 teas salt
- 1 teas vanilla extract
- 1/2 c packed brown sugar
- 1/2 c chopped pecans
- 1/4 c flour
- 2 T cold butter
Upside down plum cake

A great summer dessert. The plums mixed with almond paste makes a very light cake
- Plum topping:
- 2 T butter
- 1/2 c packed brown sugar
- 1 1/4 lbs plums, cut into thin wedges
- Almond cake:
- 1 1/4 c flour
- 1 1/2 teas baking powder
- 1/4 teas salt
- 3/4 c sugar
- 1/3 c packed almond paste crumbled (about 4 oz)
- 6 T butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 teas vanilla extract
- 1/2 c whole milk
Rhubarb Upside Down Cake
