The Frankfurter Kranz is a cake specialty of Frankfurt, Germany
- 8 ounces butter
- 10 ounces sugar
- 6 eggs
- 1 pinch salt
- grated rind from one lemon
- 2 tablespoons rum
- 12 ounces flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 4 ounces cornstarch
- 1 package vanilla pudding
- 10 ounces butter
- 4 ounces confectioners’ sugar
- 2 tablespoons rum
- 4 ounces Krokant (nut brittle) or other crunchy decorations
German Brownies

Brownies: Preheat oven to 350°F
- Brownie:
- 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup powdered sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon espresso powder optional
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons water
- Coconut Pecan Topping:
- 2/3 cup evaporated milk full fat
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg yolk beaten
- 5 tablespoons unsalted butter cut into pieces
- 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 2/3 cup chopped toasted pecans see note
- 1 3/4 cups sweetened shredded coconut
German Potato Skins

- 4 russet potatoes, scrubbed and dried
- Canola oil
- salt
- black pepper
- 2 Bratwurst sausage links, sliced into circles
- 2 large onions, quartered and sliced thinly

Sweet Potatoes with Bourbon Pecan Butter

- 1/4 cup pecans
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped shallots
- 2 teaspoons bourbon
- 1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt, crumbled
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
- Freshly ground black pepper
- Extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder

- 4 sweet potatoes, each 9 to 11 ounces, cut lengthwise in half
- 4 New York strip steaks, each about 10 ounces and 1 1/4 inches thick

- 2 1/2 cups ketchup
- 2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup Jack Daniels Whiskey
- 3/4 cup molasses (unsulfured)
- 2-3 tablespoons chili pepper paste (I used Gourmet Garden)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 tablespoon New Mexico chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
