Homemade Blackberry Vodka

- 4 cups blackberries or raspberries
- 4 cups sugar
- 1 bottle vodka
- 1 large 1/2 gallon pickle jar
Thick, Soft, and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter, at room temperature
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 1/2 cups firmly packed light brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 large eggs
- 1 (12 ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Pork Tenderloin Apple Cider Marinade

Bring cider, salt and peppercorns to a simmer
- 2 pork tenderloins
- 2 quarts apple cider
- 1/2 cup kosher salt
- 24 peppercorns
- 2 quarts cold water
Autumn Kale, Apple and Quinoa Salad

I made this for Rosh Hashanah, 2017, but without the apples
- Dressing:
- 1/2 cup dry quinoa
- 6 cups, one large package, kale with stems removed
- 2 crisp sweet apples, if using
- 1 cup walnuts, lightly toasted and roughly chopped (I used pecans instead.)
- 1/2 cup dried cranberries
- 4 ounces goat cheese (I didn't use any cheese.)
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- Salt to taste
Harvest Apple Challah

This challah recipe comes from King Arthur Flour
- 1/2 cup lukewarm water
- 6 tablespoons safflower oil
- 1/4 cup honey (I used Dutch Gold pure golden honey)
- 2 large eggs
- 4 cups (17 ounces) King Arthur Unbleached All-Purpose Flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 tablespoon instant yeast
- Apple Filling
- 2 medium to large apples, not peeled; cored and diced in 3/4 inch pieces
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup sugar
- Glaze
- 1 large egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water

- 1 pound cooked shrimp
- 1/3 cup chopped celery
- 1/2 cup mayo
- 1/4 cup finely diced onion
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire

- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 2 eggs beaten
- 4 cups flour
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 ounce active dry yeast (2 1/2 teaspoons, which is 1 package.)
Almond Boneless Chicken

This is the closest I've ever found to the almond boneless chicken I love in a Chinese restaurant
- Sauce:
- 4 chicken breasts, bones and skinned
- Oil for frying
- 4 tablespoons cornstarch
- 3 tablespoons water
- 3 cups fat-free, less-sodium chicken broth
- 1 1/2 cups chopped mushrooms, optional
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 teaspoons reduced-sodium soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons chicken bouillon granules
- Batter:
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon water
- For Serving:
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1/3 cup toasted, slivered almonds
- 1 green onion, finely chopped
