- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
- 3 medium garlic cloves , pressed through garlic press or minced (about 1 tablespoon)
- 1 inch piece fresh ginger , minced (about 1 tablespoon)
- 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons grated orange zest from 1 orange
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 medium scallion , sliced thin
- Meat
- 2 pounds sirloin tip steaks , trimmed of excess fat
- orange wedges for serving

- 1 cup (about 6 ounces) dry black beans, rinsed
- 2 avocado leaves OR 1/2 rib of fresh fennel, roughly chopped
- 1 1/4 cups (10 ounces) chorizo sausage, casing removed
- 1 medium white onion, sliced
- Salt, about 1/2 teaspoon

- 3 cups chicken broth, divided
- 1 (14.5-ounce) can fire roasted crushed tomatoes (such as Muir Glen)
- 3 tablespoons canned chipotle chilies, chopped
- 8 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1 ounces dark (70-percent cocoa solids) chocolate, chopped
- 1 tablespoon tahini or peanut butter
- 1 cup long grain rice
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
