- 1 cup milk (regular or low-fat; not nonfat)
- If you use salted butter, reduce the salt in the recipe to 1 teaspoon

- 3 1/3 cups confectioners' sugar
- 3 tablespoons light corn syrup
- 3 tablespoons hot water
- 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract*
- For the whitest icing (at the cost of reduced flavor), omit the vanilla
