PUFF PASTRY

It was recommended to use Dufour classic puff pastry which is plain and simple
- FRUIT PIE PASTRY:
- TWISTED INTO CURLS
- Roll out puff pastry into a rectangle, and spread a thin layer of homemade or store-bought jam on one half. Fold the other half over. Lightly brush with beaten egg, and sprinkle generously with sandin
- Slice dough into 1/2-inch strips; twist and curl each. Arrange on baking sheet, and freeze for 15 to 20 minutes. Bake at 400 degrees until golden, about 15 minutes.
- Unbaked jelly curls can be frozen for up to 6 months.
- Cut out 2 circles of puff pastry, any size. Freeze for 15 minutes. Cut slits across one piece of pastry. Spread berry filling onto remaining dough, leaving 1/2-inch boarder. Place slit dough on top of

- FROSTING:
- 1 cup butter, cubed
- 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 eggs
- 1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1/4 cup butter, cubed
- 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped
- 3 cups confectioners' sugar
- 5 to 6 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
COCONUT BERRY SMOOTHIE

These are EXCELLENT. I made them for Christmas in 2009
- 1-1/2 cups pitted dates, chopped
- 3/4 cup sugar, divided
- 1/3 cup water
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
- Pinch salt
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
PIGS IN A BLANKET USING PUFF PASTRY

Recommend using Dufour classic puff pastry because it is made with butter rather than shortening
- Wrap a hot dog with dough, and adhere seam with beaten eggs.
- Refrigerate for 20 minutes.
- Brush with egg.
- Slice into bite-size pieces.
- Transfer to a baking sheet, and bake at 400 degrees until golden, about 15 minutes.
- Serve with mustard.
