Black Pepper Biscuits

- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 12 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 1/2 cups cold buttermilk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons coarsely ground black pepper
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Chocolate Fudge

Butter an 8-inch by 8-inch pan or for extra thick fudge, a loaf pan
- 2 Tablespoons butter, plus extra for pan
- 3 Tablespoons cocoa powder
- 2 cups sugar
- 2/3 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate (I use Ghiradelli 60% cacao bittersweet chips)
- 1 Tablespoons light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup toasted walnut pieces (optional)
Slow Cooker Gumbo Recipe

For roux, in a heavy 2-quart saucepan stir together flour and oil until smooth
- 1/3 cup flour
- 1/3 cup cooking oil
- 3 cups chicken broth
- 12 to 16 ounces smoked sausage, sliced about 1/2" thick
- 2 cups chopped cooked chicken
- 2 cups diced cooked chicken
- 1 to 2 cups sliced okra
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
- 1/2 cup chopped celery
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- salt, to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
- boiled white rice
Garden-Fresh Ratatouille

In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 medium eggplant (3/4 pound), diced
- 1 medium zucchini, quartered and diced
- 1 medium red bell pepper, diced
- 6 tomatoes (2 pounds), diced
- 1 teaspoon fresh oregano, roughly chopped
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, roughly chopped
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 1 tablespoon capers, drained and roughly chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, thinly sliced
Southern Hoecakes

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt and sugar
- 1 cup of self rising flour
- 1 cup of all purpose cornmeal
- 2 teaspoons of baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1 tablespoon of sugar, optional
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1/3 cup water
- 1/4 cup of canola oil
- 1 tablespoon of canola, for frying, or canola combined with a bit of butter

Mix ingredients well then~ Pour into 8 inch cake pans which have been coated with non~stick cooking spray

Plum & Nectarine Crumble

- Ingredients:For the fruit filling:
- 1-2 large plums, pitted and cut into 1″ cubes
- 1-2 large nectarines, pitted and cut into 1″ cubes
- 1 T flour
- 2 T brown sugar
- 1/4 t cinnamon
- 1/8 t ground nutmeg
- 1/8 t ground allspice
- 1/8 t cayenne pepper
- For the crumble:
- 3/4 c flour
- 3/4 c sugar
- 1/2 c rolled oats
- 1/2 t ground cinnamon
- 2 T butter, melted
- 1 large egg, beaten

In a small saucepan, bring the cream to a simmer over low heat
- for the peanut butter caramel
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 Tablespoon corn syrup
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
- for the brownies
- 2 sticks unsalted butter, cut into chunks
- 6 ounces unsweetened chocolate, coarsely chopped
- 2 ounces bittersweet chocolate, coarsely chopped, + 4 ounces
- 1 teaspoon instant coffee granules
- 4 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 light brown sugar, packed
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
Italian Vegetable Soup with Stelline!

- water
- 1/2 cup stelline (tiny star shaped pasta - orzo will work, but it isn't as cute)
- olive oil
- 1 yellow onion, chopped
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups chopped mushrooms
- 1 tablespoon basil
- 1 tablespoon oregano
- 1 tablespoon parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 (14-ounce) can diced tomatoes, Italian seasoned
- 1 large zucchini, cut into spoon sized pieces
- 2 to 3 cups vegetable broth
- 1 handful parsley, chopped (for garnish; optional)
