Potatoes, Tangy and Spricy Chopped New

- 1/2 cup cooking oil
- 1/2 tsp asafoetida
- 1/3 to 1/2 pureed tomato (1 small)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 2 tbsp ground coriander
- 2 lbs new potatoes, unpeeled and cut in 1/2 slices
- 1 tbsp + 1 tsp mango powder
Elephant Ears

Dissolve yeast in water. Add milk, sugar, salt and shortening, and 2 cups flour; beat until smooth
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 cup warm milk
- 3 tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 tbsp. shortening
- 4 to 4 1/1 cups all-purpose flour
- Topping
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
Brie, Pear, and Walnut Braid

puff pastry
- 1/2 pkg puff pastry
- 2 tbsp. Chopped dried cranberries
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tsp. Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp unsalted butter
- 4 oz. Brie, thinly sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 pear, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/4 cup chopped toasted walnuts
Nori Tsukudani

Toast nori lightly. Break into small pieces
- 4 sheets nori
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 cups water
- 2 tbsp salt
- 1 cup shoyu

- 24 slices bacon, cooked crisp and finely chopped

- 1 cup butter
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 3 cups or 4 ripe bananas
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 3 cups flour
- 1 ½ cups chocolate chips

Cream butter. Gradually add sugar, creaming
- 1 lb. butter
- 1 cup icing sugar
- 5 cups flour
- 5 tbsp. cornstarch
Caramelized Shrimp

- 7 oz shrimp, washed and trimmed, heads off, shell on
- 1 tsp salt
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp minced ginger
- 3 scallions, chopped coarsely
- 2 cups oil
- Sauce
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tsp sugar
- 1 tbsp dry sherry
- 1/4 tsp five spice powder
- 1 tbsp ketchup
