- 2 1/2 cups whole milk
- 2 TBSPs minced shallots
- 1/4 tsp kosher salt
- 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- Dash of grated whole nutmeg
- 2 lbs Yukon gold potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/8 inch thick slices
- 1/2 cup (2 oz) shredded Gruyere cheese
- 1/4 cup (1 oz) grated fresh Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese

- 1 cup cooked fresh corn kernels (about 2 ears)

- 1 cup confectioners' sugar
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup salad oil
- 2 tsps vanilla extract
- 1 tsp grated lemon peel
- 4 1/4 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 tsp salt
- Colored sugar for decoration
Pork Chop Supper

- 6 pork loin or rib chops, 1/2 inch thick
- 6 medium red potatoes (about 1 1/2 lbs) cut into eighths
- 1 can (10 3/4 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1 jar (4.5 oz) Green Giant sliced mushrooms, drained
- 2 tablespoons dry white wine or chicken broth
- 1/4 tsp dried thyme leaves
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 3 TBSPs Gold Medal all purpose flour
- 1 TBSP diced pimientos (from 2 oz jar)
