- yield:1 (9-inch) 3-layer cake
- 1 1/2 cups butter (3 sticks), softened
- 2 cups sugar
- 5 large eggs, separated
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup whole buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup multicolored sprinkles
- Sweet Cream Frosting (recipe follows)
- Garnish: multicolored sprinkles
- SWEET CREAM FROSTING
- Yield: approximately 6 cups
- 2 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 8 cups confectioners' sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup sour cream
- 1 . In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and butter at medium speed with an electric mixer until smooth. Reduce speed to lour, gradually add confectioners' sugar, vanilla, and sour cream. Beat until smooth.
