- 1 pound zucchini, halved lengthwise and cut into 1-inch pieces

- 1 cup chopped onion
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 4 ounces Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, grated and divided (1 cup)
- 1/4 cup half-and-half
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
- 2 ounces French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

- 1 medium onion, chopped (1 1/2 cups)

- 3 plum or Roma tomatoes, seeded and chopped (2 cups)
- 1 15-oz. can chickpeas, rinsed and drained, or 1 1/2 cups cooked chickpeas
- 4 cups low-sodium vegetable broth
- 1/2 cup ditalini or tubetti
- 1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
- 6 Tbs. grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 Tbs. finely chopped fresh basil or parsley, for garnish
