Strawberry Shortcake Bundt Cake

Warning: I call this a bundt cake because who doesn't love the sound of a bundt cake
- Filling
- 1 cup coarsely chopped strawberries
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 8-oz. package cream cheese, softened
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- Cake
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk or soured milk *
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- Vanilla Glaze
- 2 cups sifted confectioner's sugar
- Water or half-and-half, as required
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- To sour milk, stir 1 tablespoon lemon juice with a cup of milk and let stand a
- minute.

- 2 bay leaves
- 3-6 teaspoons ground cumin

- 1-2 teaspoons liquid smoke
