Toffee Squares

Cream margarine, add brown sugar then egg yolk and vanilla
- 1 cup margarine, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups flour mixed with 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 package Nestle Milk Chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans
Caramelized Onion Tarts With Apples

The tarts can be assembled and frozen up to 1 month in advance
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 medium onions, sliced
- 2 red apples (such as Braeburn or Gala), cut into small pieces
- kosher salt and black pepper
- 2 sheets frozen puff pastry (from a 17.3-ounce package), thawed
- 1/2 cup creme fraiche or sour cream
Hodgepodge

In a large saucepan, combine potatoes and carrots; add cold water to cover by 5 cm (2 inches)
- 12 baby new potatoes, cut in half
- 250 mL (1 cup) thickly sliced carrots or baby-cut carrots
- 500 mL (2 cups) broccoli florets
- 250 mL (1 cup) sugar snap peas, snow peas, or green beans, trimmed
- 125 mL (1/2 cup) frozen green peas
- 15 mL (1 tbsp) vegetable oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 mL (1/2 tsp) dried tarragon, savoury or thyme
- Pepper
- 30 mL (2 tbsp) all-purpose flour
- 375 mL (1 1/2 cup) 1% milk, heated
- 10 mL (2 tsp) Dijon or dry mustard
- 30 mL (2 tbsp) chopped fresh basil or dill (optional)
Chocolate Chip Cookie Cheesecake Bars

I may have slightly overdone it with this one :) These are very sweet
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup butter flavored shortening
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups chocolate chips
- Cheesecake layer
- 1 cup (8oz) cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 sheets of caramel (Caramel apple wraps)
Grandmother Paul's Sour Cream Pound Cake

Preheat oven to 325 degrees
- •1/2 pound (2 sticks) butter
- •3 cups sugar
- •1 cup sour cream
- •3 cups all-purpose flour
- •1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- •6 eggs
- •1 teaspoon vanilla

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (177 degrees C) and place rack in center of oven
- 1/2 cup (113 grams) unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1/4 cup (50 grams) granulated white sugar
- 1 large egg, separated
- 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup (140 grams) all purpose flour
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup (100 grams) hazelnuts, almonds, pecans or walnuts, toasted and finely chopped (See Note)
- 1/2 cup jam
Hot Chocolate (Chip) Cookies

In a large bowl, cream butter and shortening together
- Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda; 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 cups chocolate chips or chocolate chunks (I prefer using the latter)
- 1 tsp cinnamon; 1 tbsp ancho chili flakes; 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- Pls note that spices (last 3 on list) can be adjusted according to your preference.

For dough, dissolve yeast in water with 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- Dough:
- 2 pkgs. active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup warm water (105 to 115 degrees)
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 4 −5 cups all−purpose flour, divided
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk, scalded and cooled to 110 degrees
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 2 eggs, room temperature
- Filling:
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon
- Icing:
- 1 cup confectioners' sugar

Creamy Lemon {or Lime!} Bars

This is a twist on the classic lemon bar, and it’s more of a little lemon cheesecake bar
- 20 Nilla Wafers, finely crushed
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) cold real butter
- 1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese (you can use 1/3-less fat cream cheese)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs, at room temp (just place eggs in a bowl of warm water for about 10 mins)
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 3 Tbsp. grated lemon peel, divided
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (don’t even think about opening a bottle!)
- 1/4 tsp. Baking Powder
