- 1 large whole-wheat baguette

- 1 cup nonfat milk

- 2 tablespoons firmly packed brown sugar

Potato-Apple Latkes

These sweet-savory pancakes get irresistibly crisp from pan-frying
- 6 cups shredded peeled Yukon gold potatoes (about 2 pounds)
- 2 cups shredded Gala or Honeycrisp apples (about 2 medium)
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, divided
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 2.25 ounces all-purpose flour (about 1/2 cup)
- 6 tablespoons canola oil, divided
- 1 teaspoon turbinado or granulated sugar
Beef Steak, Grilled Balsamic Skirt

1. Combine first 4 ingredients in a large zip-top plastic bag
- 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons dark brown sugar
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 pound skirt steak, trimmed and cut into 4 pieces

- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, divided
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Salad Dressing, Oriental Sesame

Whisk together all ingredients and store in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week

Mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves
- 3/4 C Finely chopped English walnuts
- 2 C Finely shredded carrots
- 1 C Crushed pineapple (8oz can with juice)
- 1/2 C Finely shredded coconut
- 1/2 C Raisins that have been soaked in water until plump and then drained
- 1 1/4 C Vegetable oil
- 1 1/2 C Sugar
- 1/2 C Brown sugar
- 3 Eggs
- 3 C Flour
- 2 tsp Baking powder
- 2 tsp Baking soda
- 2 tsp Vanilla
- 2 tsp Ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp Ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp Ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- Cream Cheese Frosting
- 1 8oz Cream cheese
- 1 Stick of butter room temperature
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 to 3 C Powder sugar
- 1/2 C Chopped pecans for garnish

- Crust:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour, divided
- 3 tablespoons ice water
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

- 3 tablespoons vegetable shortening
- Filling:
- 1 cup brown rice syrup or dark corn syrup
- 1/4 cup maple syrup

1. Start with chopping up 2 medium sized fresh tomatoes
- 2-3 medium sized fresh tomatoes (from 1 lb to 1 1/2 lb), stems removed, finely diced
- 1/2 red onion, finely diced
- 1 jalapeño chili pepper (stems, ribs, seeds removed), finely diced
- 1 serano chili pepper (stems, ribs, seeds removed), finely diced
- Juice of one lime
- 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: oregano and or cumin to taste
