Preheat oven to 375 degrees
- 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 garlic cloves, smashed and peeled
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 to 2 anchovy fillets, chopped
- 3 teaspoons chopped fresh sage leaves

Grilled Cheese and Fruit Sandwich

Spread one side of each bread slice ligthly with softened butter
- 8 slices good white bread
- 2 tbsp softened butter
- 1/4 cup fig or plum jam
- 4 oz thinly sliced Havarti or Monterey Jack cheese
- 1 small pear or apple, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp sliced almonds, or chopped pecans, toasted

These brownies were pretty good for anyone watching their weight
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, plus
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar, firmly packed
- 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/2 teaspoon cider vinegar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons margarine, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions 1.Place sugar and the stick cinnamon into coffee pot; brew the 4 cups coffee

Recipe: Tomato Bisque

Heat the butter in a large soup pot over medium-high heat
- 4 tablespoons butter (we used unsalted)
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 slices bacon, proscuitto, or ham, minced
- 4 cloves garlic
- 5 tablespoons whole-wheat flour
- 5 cups chicken broth/stock
- 1 28-ounce can of whole, peeled tomatoes (with liquid) or about 5 – 6 medium-sized fresh tomatoes that have been boiled for 1 minute and then peeled…either way they need to be roughly chopped before using
- 3 parsley sprigs
- 3 fresh thyme sprigs
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 cup heavy cream (or less if desired)
- 1 teaspoon salt (or more if you are using unsalted homemade broth)
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Green Bean Casserole (with French Fried Onions!)

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F
- 2 pounds green beans, trimmed, cut in half, and steamed (8 to 10 minutes or until tender),
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 8 ounces mushrooms, diced (Shiitake is a great choice, but button mushrooms are good as well)
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 4 tablespoons whole wheat flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Pepper, to taste
- 2 1/2 cups milk
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1/2 onion, peeled, cut in half, and sliced very thin
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 4 tablespoons butter
- Salt, to taste

Follow your bread machine’s directions for making a whole-wheat raisin loaf
- 3 cups whole-wheat flour
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup warm water (I heat it in glass measuring cup in microwave for 1 minute)
- 1/2 cup oil (I used coconut oil)
- 4 tablespoons honey
- 2 teaspoons yeast
- 1 cup raisins
