Instructions Preheat oven to 400 degrees F

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 3 carrots, diced (about 3/4 to 1 cup)
  • 3 celery ribs, diced (about 3/4 to 1 cup)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas (no need to defrost - I used Cascadian Farm brand)
  • 3 cups shredded cooked chicken (I highly recommend using The Best Whole Chicken in the Crock Pot recipe to make your chicken!)
  • 4 tablespoons whole-wheat flour
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley leaves, chopped
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons whole-wheat flour, plus extra for rolling out the dough
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup cold, unsalted butter (1 stick)
  • 1/4 cup water plus ice
  • 1 egg beaten with a splash of water
  • Round baking dish
  • Baking sheet
  • Food processor

For the spinach layer Heat the butter in a pan and fry the onions for one minute

  • 3 cups chopped spinach (palak)
  • 1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1/2 cup boiled sweet corn kernels (makai ka dana)
  • 2 green chillies, chopped
  • 2 tsp oil
  • Salt to taste
  • For Baking
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 1 tsp fresh cream
  • 3 tbsp grated processed cheese
  • For the Potato Layer
  • 2 cups boiled and grated potatoes
  • 1/2 cup crumbled paneer (cottage cheese)
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania)
  • 1 green chilli, chopped
  • Salt to taste
