Mustard-Crusted Steaks with Herb Butter

- 2 12-oz. boneless beef sirloin steaks, cut about 3/4-inch thick
- 1/4 cup butter (half a stick)
- 2 Tbsp. coarse-grain mustard
- 1 Tbsp. snipped fresh thyme
- 1 tsp. snipped fresh rosemary
Black Bean Salad with Avocado, Turkey, & Cheese

This is another zone recipe
- Dressing:
- 1 1/4 cups cooked black beans (5 carbs)
- 4 cups cucumbers, chopped (1 carb)
- 1 1/2 cups red onions, chopped (1 carb)
- 2 cups yellow, red, or orange bell pepper, chopped (1 carb)
- 8 ounces cooked turkey breast, chopped (8 protein)
- 4 ounces shredded low-fat Monterey jack cheese (4 protein)
- 12 tablespoons avocado, chopped (12 fat)
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 4 tablespoons Italian parsley, chopped
- 2 tablespoons lime juice
- 2 tablespoons fresh oregano, chopped
- salt and pepper to taste
- Tabasco Sauce, to taste
- (dried herbs work fin in this dressing also)
Paleo Potato & Bacon "Pancake"

- 6 strips of bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1/2 cup red bell peppers, diced small
- 1/2 cup of green bell peppers, diced small
- 1/2 cup of onion, diced small
- 1 1/2 cups of shredded white (or any other color) sweet potato
- 3 eggs, whisked
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme (or any other herb you like)
Buffalo Wings

So yummy & all of this is primal - I made the dressing as stated but can definitely be cleaned up with homemade may...
- 12 chicken wings (about 2 pounds)
- 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
- 3 tablespoons bottled hot pepper sauce
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 recipe Blue Cheese Dip or Low-Fat Blue Cheese Dip
- Celery sticks (optional)
Roasted Squash Soup

this was sooooo good. I used acorn squash & homemade chicken broth which made the soup extra rich
- 2 1/2 pounds butternut or acorn squash, or sugar pumpkin
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 cups diced onion (3 medium onions)
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed
- 1 small bay leaf
- 3 1/2 cups chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1/3 cup whipping cream
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
Primal Energy Bar

- 1/2 cup slivered almonds
- 1/2 cup pecans
- 1/4 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
- 1/4 cup almond butter (although cashew, hazelnut, walnut and even pumpkin butters will work well too!)
- 1/4 cup coconut oil (check your local health food store)
- 1/4 cup almond meal (simply pulse approximately 1/4 cup of almonds until it creates a coarse flour)
- 1 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp of raw honey (although, this is really kind of optional because the egg will help hold the mixture together)
- 1/2 cup unsweetened whey protein powder (or 60g)
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/2 cup dried cranberries or blueberries
- 1/4 cup unsweetened coconut to sprinkle on top
Paleo Asian Roasted Chicken w/ Scallion Oil

- 4 pounds chicken (drumsticks, thighs), skins removed if you like
- 3 1/2 tablespoons coconut aminos or GF tamari soy sauce
- 2 1/2 tablespoons light olive oil
- 2 T fish sauce (optional, but I use it!)
- 4 large cloves garlic, minced
- 1 1/2 teaspoons honey or sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Make-Ahead Mashed Potatoes

You can make these several days ahead and store in the fridge
- 2 1/2 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes, cubed
- 1 (3 oz.) package cream cheese
- 4 oz. sour cream
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon onion salt
- ground black pepper to taste
Curried Butternut Squash Soup

This was really good. The butternut squash was really hard to deal with but I think it was worth it
- 1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 2 teaspoons red curry powder or curry powder
- 2 teaspoons grated fresh ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 14 ounce can reduced-sodium chicken broth
- 1 1/4 cups water
- 1 1/2 pounds butternut squash, peeled, seeded, and cut into 1-inch cubes (4 cups)
- 1 14 ounce can unsweetened coconut milk
- 1/2 cup half-and-half or light cream
- 1/3 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- Fresh cilantro (optional)
