Ingredients
- 4 lbs. apples (about 16)
- 4 cups sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. ground cloves

Step 1
Wash, pare, quarter and core apples. Add a small amount of water; cover and cook slowly until tender. Drain off any water. Chop with stick blender. Measure 2 qts. apple pulp.
Combine pulp, sugar and spices in a large saucepan. Cook slowly until thick enough to round up on a spoon. As mixture thickens, stir frequently to prevent sticking. Ladle into hot jars - remove air bubbles - and process in boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
