Serve up these simple and delicious golden brown calzones filled with bell peppers, raisins, spinach, and cheese with a garden salad for a great family meal!

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 bell peppers (I used a combination of red, yellow and orange)
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/2 teaspoons coarse salt
  • 1 package refrigerated pizza dough, room temperature
  • 1 cup spinach or parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 cup fontina cheese, shredded
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oil in a large skillet. Add peppers; sauté 15 minutes. Add raisins and salt. Sauté 5 minutes. Let cool.

Preheat oven to 400°F.

Divide dough into 4 balls. Stretch each into a rough 8-inch circle. Top half of each dough round with pepper mixture, spinach and cheese. Moisten edges of dough with water. Fold dough over and crimp edges. Place on baking sheet and cut 3 to 4 vents in the top of each calzone. Brush with melted butter.

Bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
