Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup berries and juice
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 heaping teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and mix well. Gradually beat in berries and juice. Add flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Mix well. Stir in vanilla. Pour into greased 9 x 13 baking dish. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes.

SAUCE
2 cups sugar
1/3 cup flour
pinch of salt
4 cups water
3 teaspoons vanilla
1 stick butter

In saucepan, mix sugar and flour. Add water gradually making a paste and dissolving lumps. Add the rest of water cooking until starting to get thick. When warm, add butter and vanilla and cook until thick. Serve over pudding.
