Chocolate Apple Pops
- 2 large granny smith apples
- milk chocolate chips
- solid vegetable shortening
- caramel topping
- Optional: crushed oreas, crushed m and m's, crushed pretzels, anything you may want to sprinkle on top, sprinkles, crushed snickers... drizzle with colored or white chocolate melted is an option also
Mix 1 cup milk chocolate chips and 4 teaspoons shortening in a microwave safe dish, microwave for a few minutes until smooth, stirring every 30 seconds...
Place apples upright on a cutting board and cut into 1/2 to 3/4 " slices.using a paring knife, make a small cut into the bottom of the apple slice and insert a popsicle stick.
Line a large baking sheet with wax paper.
Dip apples slices into melted chocolate and place on the baking sheet. Refrigerate until chocolate sets, 5 - 10 minutes.
Drizzle with caramel sauce and melted white chocolate and top as desired.
Return to refrigerator until white chocolate and caramel set, about 5 minutes. Serve immediately or store in the refrigerator
