Zippy Beef Biscuit Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup diced green chiles
  • 1 can 8oz tomato sauce
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 can Pillsbury biscuits
  • 1 each egg, beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups Monterey jack cheese, shredded
  • paprika

Preparation

Step 1

HEAT oven to 375. In large skillet brown the beef and chopped onion. Drain. Add the green chiles, tomato sauce, chili powder, and garlic powder. Heat until bubbly.

SEPARATE biscuits into 10 biscuits, then separate biscuits into two layers. Press 10 of them into an ungreased 1 1/2 quart casserole dish.

ADD one beaten egg and 1 cup cheese to the meat mixture. Spoon into prepared casserole. Place remaining layers of dough on top. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup cheese and paprika. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
