Sweet-Sour Beef Stew

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds beef stew meat, cut in 1-inch cubes
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
- 1 cup chopped carrot
- 1 cup sliced onion
- 1 8 ounce can tomato sauce (1 cup)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 4 teaspoons cornstarch
- Hot cooked noodles

Step 1
Brown meat in hot oil. Add next 6 ingredients, 1/2 cup water, and 1 teaspoon salt. Cover and cook over low heat till meat is tender, about two hours. Combine cornstarch and 1/4 cup cold water; add to beef mixture. Cook and store till thickened and bubbly. Serve over noodles. Garnish with carrot curls and parsley, if desired. Makes 4 servings
This is a family favorite. Taste the sauce and if desired, add additional brown sugar to taste.
I cook the meat ahead of time in the crock pot until tender and freeze until I am read to use it.
