Ingredients

    pounds beef stew meat, cut in 1-inch cubes

    tablespoons cooking oil

  • 1

    cup chopped carrot

  • 1

    cup sliced onion

  • 1

    8 ounce can tomato sauce (1 cup)

  • 1/4

    cup brown sugar

  • 1/4

    cup vinegar

  • 1

    tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 4

    teaspoons cornstarch

  • Hot cooked noodles

Directions

Brown meat in hot oil. Add next 6 ingredients, 1/2 cup water, and 1 teaspoon salt. Cover and cook over low heat till meat is tender, about two hours. Combine cornstarch and 1/4 cup cold water; add to beef mixture. Cook and store till thickened and bubbly. Serve over noodles. Garnish with carrot curls and parsley, if desired. Makes 4 servings This is a family favorite. Taste the sauce and if desired, add additional brown sugar to taste. I cook the meat ahead of time in the crock pot until tender and freeze until I am read to use it.
